Teotihuacan - Birthplace of the Gods according to some creation myths

Teotihuacan was inhabited by the Aztecs when the Spanish showed up and they believed that the colossal buildings were built by their ancestors. In fact the actual builders of Teotihuacan is still somewhat of a mystery.

Teotihuacan is near Mexico city and is probably second only to Guatemala's TIKAL as far as grandiose and massive archaeological site in the America's. You need two days just to explore the mountains of ruins (Literally - The temple of the Sun was once mistaken for a mountain until it was discovered that there was a building under it). Teotihuacan is on the list of places that you have to visit before you die. No matter what you do, make sure you make a visit at least once.
